Psalm 29
Praise to God in His Holiness and Majesty
*Written by David.
*Psalm 29 seems to describe a thunder storm.
Verses 1-2: David open's Psalm 29 with a call to praise. "O you mighty one's", mostly likely refers to God's mighty angels. These two verses show the Lord's supremacy over heavenly beings. We see here that God deserves all the glory and all the praise because He is the "all powerful one". "Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness" means the Lord is only to be worshipped and not any creature, angel, or mankind, etc... "Holiness" means consecrated to God's service and being conformed in all things to the Will of God."Holiness" is the state of being holy, purity, and integrity of moral character. "Holy" means being dedicated or consecrated to God and set apart.
Verses 3-9: David describes God's supremacy over nature. "The voice of the Lord" means God is above and over nature. God created it. Nature even has to obey God when He speaks.
Verses 10-11: David expresses God's power towards His people. His people are the righteous one's.
*In the midst of any storm in nature or any storm in our lives, God will give His people the strength and courage to come through it victorious. God will give us His peace that passeth all understanding.
