Psalm 90
The Eternity of God, and Man's Frailty
*Written by Moses.
*Psalm 90, is the only Psalm written by Moses. Psalm 90, is the oldest Psalm.
*From verses 7-12, we may assume that Psalm 90 was written at the end of the 40 years of wondering in the desert. God caused the people of Israel to wonder in the desert for 40 years, due to their disobedience and unbelief. God said that the unbelieving generations that came out of Egypt could not go into the promise land. Joshua and Caleb were the only two that came out of Egypt that God allowed to go into the promise land with the new generations that were born in the desert. Psalm 90 is a prayer of Moses.
*Moses could not enter the promise land due to his disobedience to God. The second time God told Moses to speak to the rock and water would come forth. Instead, Moses struck the rock with his staff and took credit for the water coming from the rock. God however, did allow Moses to see the promise land from a distance.
*Psalm 90, is a prayer of Moses asking God to have mercy on the new generations that Joshua and Caleb would lead into the promise land.
*God will punish sin. Sin brings punishment. Repenting from the heart brings us back into a right relationship with God.
*Just as God punished Moses and the children of Israel that came out of Egypt for their disobedience and unbelief, God will punish us for our disobedience and unbelief.
