Psalm 93
The Eternal Reign of the Lord
*No author's name is mentioned. Psalm 93, could be called an orphan Psalm.
*Psalm 93, speaks prophetically of the time when the Lord Jesus will rule the earth from Jerusalem.
*the thought of Psalm 93, is that after other things are swept away by floods of adversity, hostile nations, or evil powers, the Lord remains established and His Word stands true. After all things have past away, the Lord Jesus still rules and reigns forever.
*Psalm 93 Outline:
- The Lord's Kingship described in verses 1-2
- The Lord's Kingship revealed in nature in verses 3-4
- The Lord's Kingship present in His house in verse 5
"The Lord reigns", is an exclamation of the Lord's universal reign over the earth from the beginning of time. "The Lord is clothed with majesty", expresses the glory associated with ALL of His Works. "Strength", refers to the Lord's power to subdue ALL things. The Lord reigns over everything and everyone. This includes satan and his demons. God has always been and will always be on the throne forever more(eternity)!!!
Verses 3-4:
"The floods", mean the enemies of the Lord and His people. "Lifted up their voices", refers to the opposition of the enemies against the Lord and His people. "The floods lift up their waves", refers to the strength, the noise, and the threatening of ruins/destruction from the enemies of the Lord and His people. When the enemy comes in like a flood, run to the Lord for shelter. The Lord is the Most High and He is over ALL. He is mightier than ALL the enemies that come up against us. Once again, when the enemy comes in like a flood, run to the Lord for shelter.
Verse 5:
The storm may rage, but the Lord is mightier. God's house(temple) is to be one of Holiness. We are to e a people of Holiness. God never changes. God is Holy and He desires for true righteous born again christian's to live a life of holiness.
*I Peter 1:15-16
15) But as He which hath called you is Holy, so be you Holy in ALL manner of conversation.
16) Because it is written, Be you Holy, for I AM HOLY.
