Psalm 101
Promised Faithfulness to the Lord
*Written by King David.
*Psalm 101, expresses King David's own aims, but at the same time it is a picture of Jesus Christ(prophecy).
*Psalm 101 outline:
- Personal life of King David in verses 1-4
- Personal outcome of the "JUST"(God's righteous one's) in verse 6
- Personal outcome of the "unjust"(sinner's) in verses 5; 7-8
King David was alone in the presence of God. King David singing unto the Lord, shows his thankfulness to the Lord and his thankfulness shows his cheerful soul. King David knew that he must stay in the center of God's Will for his life in order to receive the blessings of God on his life. King David singing praises brought great joy to the Lord God. "Perfect way", refers to King David making the decision to do his best to live Holy before the Lord God. "When will You come to me", is King David's expression of his need for the Lord God in his life. King David had determination and a made up mind, that he would walk uprightly before the Lord God. King David never stopped desiring to do God's Will for his life. King David was determined not to put or look at anything that would cause him to sin. "I hate the work(sin) of those who fall away", refers to those who once had a relationship with the Lord God and kept His Word. "It shall not cling to me", refers to King David not fellowshipping with whose who fell away from the Lord God. We are not to fellowship with or get involved with the wicked(sinner's) of this world. We are to hate sin and love the person. "I will not know wickedness(sin)", refers to King David not being familiar with the wicked or show them respect. We are not to be affectionate in our emotions toward the wicked(sinner's). We are not to participate in the ways of the wicked(sinner's). We are not to approve, love, or delight in wickedness. King David was determined to not have wickedness in his presence. King David, first made sure his heart was right and pure before the Lord God. Then he refused to be associated with the wicked(sinner's) and the wickedness(sin's).
Verse 6:
King David was determined to fill his life with righteousness and those who were righteous. Do we?
Verses 5; 7-8:
King David was determined that wickedness would not be permitted in his presence or his house. King David is saying, if God does not approve of it, neither will he approve of it. King David destroying the wicked in the land and cutting them off, is prophecy of what is to come.
*We have to remember that one rotten apple(one sin) can ruin the whole basket of apples(our lives).
*King David wanted his relationship with the Lord God to be a godly and holy relationship. Do we?
