
Psalm 115
Trust in God, not in Idols
*No author's name is mentioned. We could call Psalm 115 an orphan Psalm.
*Psalm 115, is a "Hallel" Psalm "Hallel" is Hebrew for praise.
*Because of the confidence that the psalmist talks about in Psalm 115, Psalm 115 could be called a "Psalm of National Confidence".
*The speaking of Psalm 115 alternates between the priests of the temple and the people.
*The message of Psalm 15, could be summarized in three idea's:
- Honor the Lord, because He alone is God, in verses 1-8. The people in the congregation said these verses out loud.
- Trust in the Lord, because He will help you, in verses 9-11. The priests said this aloud.
- Praise the Lord, because He is worthy, in verses 12-18: The people in the congregation said verses 12-13 out loud. The priests said verses 17-15 out loud. The people in the congregation said verses 16-18 out loud.
