*Psalm 138 outline: Ve
- David's individual praise in verses 1-3
- Universal praise in verses 4-6
- David expects God to deliver him in verses 7-8
"My whole heart", refers to David praising the Lord God with 100% of his heart. "Heart", represents the life of an individual. We can not praise the Lord half heartedly, we have to praise the Lord with 100% of our hearts. David did not let anything stop him from praising the One True God. David knew that the "gods"(idols) were powerless, lifeless, and could not do anything. Undoubtedly David must have been in some foreign land, because he said "I will worship toward Your Holy hill". In other words, when David worshipped God, he looked in the direction of Jerusalem where the temple was. David was remembering that in times past, God heard his cries(prayers) and delivered him and strengthen him.
Verses 4-6:
Verses 4 and 5, are prophecy of what is to come. "Lowly are those who depend on God". "Proud" are those who distance themselves from God, believing they do not need Him. "He knows from a far", refers to God not being near them and it is their choice that this happens. Theses people do not admit they need God.
Verses 7-8:
David, was confident that God would deliver him. David boldly stood firm on God's Word. So must we boldly stand firm on God's Word.
*We must not let the things of this world knock us off course with God. We must continue to stand boldly on God's Word, knowing that He will take care of us and deliver us.
